FLYING WHALES presents progress on the airship project to elected officials from Nouvelle-Aquitaine region

Responding to an invitation from the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, FLYING WHALES met with elected officials from all horizons on Wednesday, January 15, to share with them the significant progress made on the LCA60T development program. This included the construction of the plant, measures to preserve the environment, local technical partnerships, a variety of commercial applications and, more generally, a contribution to the decarbonization of air cargo transport.

The morning was devoted to a visit to the site of the future Laruscade plant, during which Sebastien BOUGON (President FLYING WHALES), Vincent Guibout (CEO FLYING WHALES), Eric Happert (President of the Latitude Nord Gironde Community of Municipalities – Communauté de Communes Latitude Nord Gironde) and experts answered questions from the elected officials, concerning the choice of site for the plant, its steel-saving architecture, measures to preserve the European mink and compensation, complementary actions in favor of biodiversity, and the timetable for administrative procedures.

🤝After lunch at the Regional Council (Conseil Régional), during which President Alain Rousset reiterated his support for an innovative re-industrialization project creating over 300 direct jobs in the region, the elected representatives visited two partners in the industrial consortium developing the LCA60T. EXOES, a battery specialist, and SERMA Group, specialized in embedded electronic systems. These are two companies whose LCA60T developments are finding new outlets, boosting their competitiveness.

The day’s discussions were a rich opportunity for the elected representatives to fully appreciate the technical maturity of the concept, its relevance to the market, and the advantages for the region of the creation of this new innovative, sustainable, French and low-carbon transport sector. A world 1st that will take place in New Aquitaine!
