The winners of the Float, Lift & Fly Contest 2023

A week ago, the Arkéa Arena in Bordeaux hosted the 3rd edition of the Float, Lift & Fly Contest.
This contest organized with Planète Sciences brings together teams of students from several engineering schools to design a functional airship capable of lifting small loads from a blank envelope.

Throughout the year, the students design and test their various systems such as propulsion, flight control, load lifting and ballast. During the final of this competition, each team flew its airship on a specific course and tried to win as many points as possible through various tests.

For this 2023 edition, the teams’ performances impressed the jury, and, for the first time, a mast docking and a totally autonomous load gripping were achieved by the ESTACA  team, winner of the competition for the 2nd year running.
